Ribeiro frio portela it’s one of the most accessible and easiest paths with this level of beauty and Laurisilva vegetation of the island. Along this levada path ( flat ) w we will be dazzled with the amazing views trough the valleys and the villages belor following the wahter path, starting on the north and finishing on the south of the island, we will see the diference between both and admire the construction of this levada.

After about 8k Flat, we will start our descend to Portela, this is the hardest part of the walk trough the dirt paths but it will pay off with one of the most amazing views over porto da cruz and faial.

This is a walk done in Levada and trail, mostly flat, and with a last section of descent please make sure you wear appropriate footwear and clothes! All the extra equipment that you may need, like walking sticks, can be provided by us if asked previously, we advise you to wear appropriate, warm and comfortable clothes, and don’t forget to pack your own snack/picnic and water!
