Local Food and Drink Tour – An Evening with the Locals

There is a Madeiran popular saying that goes more or less like this:

“The only things you get from this life is: what you have laughed, drunk and eaten!”

Sometimes we can get lost in the translation, but at this one, we couldn’t agree more! We love real people and sharing real food and drink, in the really good and local spots, and love giving a real Madeiran experience on one of our pub crawls and food tours, sharing a good time with local “Madeirenses”, eating, drinking or cooking!

​Madeira is a paradise for foodies… loads of different food, fruits, veggies, deserts make take our mouth drool… But the best spots to eat are the local priced and simple spots…and we know a bunch of those… seafood, fish, meat, sweets and pastries, soup, seafood lovers, here you have found their paradise, and can’t miss all the drinks that has been part of our everyday, and world history important as the Madeira wine, or even our exclusive Poncha, rum, ginja, local wines, all the tons of homemade liquors, pé de Cabra, Nikita, and all the… ( ok ok we know its a lot of drinks, you get it) but we live on an island so excuse us, we have to get busy 😀

​These are some of the things we do on weekends and evenings as many of the places we go to are not even open during the week… and well this is what Madeira is really all about!! Would you like to be our guest?

Our tours, Up Mountain Madeira Tours, are all done in a very calm, safe and relaxed way by a local certified guide. Or Transport will be done in our Van Car or our loved rare classic Portuguese jeeps, completely restored,  military style (yes, it’s a real 4×4), because they allow us to reach really incredible places, always in small groups of 4 to 6 or 8 people, we usually go on old roads and off-road, off the beaten track!

During this tour, each time a good photo opportunity arises, we will stop, and along the way talk about the places and life of these regions of Madeira, in a relaxed and informative way. With us, you will always pay the local price as you experience local life, we love to show you the island from our point of view, at your own pace.
